Oscar Out of the Box

Year 1 love Oscar, a friendly, reflective owl who offers them a 'bird's eye' view of stories in the bible linked to different Christian values. Each worship follows a familiar Welcome, Learn, Reflect, Respond format, with simple songs and prayerful phrases that the children can join in with.
Leading Worship
The children are involved in the leading of worship, supporting with setting up the worship table. We start each worship this way, taking out the symbols of worship and talking about what they represent.
The bible represents God the Father.
The cross represents God's son, Jesus.
The candle represents God the Holy Spirit.

Getting Involved!
Year 1 love to immerse themselves in the bible stories they are learning, so dressing up and stepping into the shoes of different characters is a key part of our Oscar the Owl worship. The children enjoy reflecting on their favourite parts of the story and considering how the characters felt and acted. Year 1 are also learning how to join in with and respond to prayer.
