Cinnamon Brow CE Pre-School

Welcome to Pre-school
Cinnamon Brow Pre-school welcomes children aged three and four for their full year of nursery provision before they begin reception class. We work closely with Little Browsers (our two and three year old onsite provison) as well as our two reception classes, Cardiff and Edinburgh. We believe that every child deserves the best start in life, and we work to create varied opportunties to allow each child to reach their full potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child's experiences between birth and five can have a major impact on their future life chances. We provide high-quality early years education, centred around each individual child and form a strong partnership between home and school.

Key Worker Groups
On joining pre-school, children will be allocated to a one of four key worker groups. These are named after British woodland creatures: squirrels, foxes, owls and rabbits. Being part of a key worker group allows your child to build secure, positive relationships and ensures a consistent point of contact for communication about your child's development and wellbeing.
Curriculum
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and in particular, we focus on the three Prime areas of learning as we believe these are fundamental in forming a broad and balanced base from which all children can learn. These areas are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
- Physical Development (PD)
- Communication and Language (CL).
The EYFS states that these three areas are 'crucial for igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and to thrive.'
We design an active and experiential curriculum, helping to develop each child's confidence, resilience, self-esteem and celebrating their uniqueness.
Teaching and Learning in Pre-School
In Pre-school, we intentionally teach early maths and phonics in small groups each day. We follow a broad theme for each half-term (see our long term plan), guided by the chidlren's interests and needs, prioritising their communication and language development through quality interactions and opportunities for imaginative play. We follow Little Wandle Foundations phonics, enhanced by EY2P materials and Word Aware.
