Christianity within our PSHE (Heartsmart lessons)
Get Heartsmart
Don't forget love in
Through this unit (Autumn ii), the children continue to learn to show love to themselves but begin to consider showing love to others and what this can look like.
Each year, we begin the school year learning to 'Get Heartsmart' as part of our PSHE lessons. This is about getting the children to understand that the choices we make have an impact on our lives. We want the children to learn how to make good choices that help their heart, to show love to themselve and to others.
We have a link Bible verse to each of our Heartsmart principles and this is looked at and studied as part of our lessons.
Too much selfie isn't healthy
Don't hold on to what is wrong
This unit (Spring ii) is all about learning to forgive themselves and each other. The children learn about Jesus' example and practically how they can forgive and how to follow Jesus' example in their own lives. The children learn about the positive impact on our hearts when we forgive.
Fake is a mistake
No way through isn't true
The final unit helps to develop perseverance. Not only this though, it also encourages the children to recognise and celebrate an area of their lices where they are doing really well. The children are given strategies to help them overcome challenges and what to do if there is a setback.
The children are encouraged to dream big dreams and consider how to manage change as they develop and move through their education and life.
Heartsmart Day - November 2024
This unit (Spring i) digs deeper into teaching the children how to show love and care to others. The children develop their abilities to listen carefully to others, to learn to understand each other a little more and to learn ways to show love and care to others.
Within the is unit (Summer i), the children are not only taught about the importance of being truthful in their words and actions but also about being true to themselves.
They are encouraged to see the real them as the best them.
