You suggested, we did...
We had a great response to our parent survey that was completed in July. On this page, you can see some of the comments, questions and suggestions from parents and our response. We very much value parent involvement and want to work together to ensure our school is the very best that it can be.
In the speech bubbles, you can see parents comments and then below this, our response.
PE sessions - we have one full afternoon of PE which incorporates two lessons. In addition, we have a full 1.25hrs of physical activity on offer at our playtimes and lunchtimes through our OPAL play. This also incorporates an organised sports activity that all children can engage in.
High school transition - we work closely with our local high schools and ensure that we speak about each individual child prior to their transition. Padgate High School provides many enrichment opportunities for our Year 5s. We are working closely with Birchwood High to increase the offer including sports activities.
Face to Face Parent Evenings - following the feedback, these were reintroduced from September 2023.
Mixed-age classes - as a 1.5 form school with an intake of 45 children, we have to work hard to ensure that the children get the same offer whichever class they are in within the key stage. The intake size is set by the Local Authority and is linked to demand in the area. Further information about how we support the mixed age provision is provided in the school prospectus but please do ask for further clarification if you have questions. Please be assured that our 1 hour lunchtime offer means that the children can fully mix and play with all of their friends from across the year group and the whole school.
Gender-neutral uniform - this is in place and has been for a number of years.
Sports opportunities - we are working with the Warrington Sports Partnership to incorporate as many sports competitions as possible into the school year. We will continue year on year to look to increase our participation. Each year, years 3 & 4 are involved in a rugby festival and teaching provided by Warrington Wolves. Sports clubs are offered each week as well. Finally, the swimming pool is back! April 2024 and June 2025. If you have any further suggestions or can support in our sports offer, please do get in touch.
Behaviour - we want to support every child within our school to develop personally and educationally. Our desire is to give every child a hope and a future. This does mean that sometimes we are putting support and intervention for pupils who may demonstrate challenging behaviours. Please be assured that we work closely with the local authority and other professionals to bring about positive change.
