Writing Long Term Curriculum Overview
Pupil Voice
During our pupil voice sessions, children decided they wanted to help promote reading plus. They created posters for each classroom and a few children wrote a speech which they delivered in Family Assembly.
English around the school
Poetry at Cinnamon Brow
At Cinnamon Brow we have poetry built into our curriculum, and different texts available for the children to take home or read in school.
Reading Buddies
We have volunteers from our Year 5 & Year 6 classes that take time out of their lunches to read with children in Key Stage One.
They share stories and ask questions about the books that we are reading. This builds up the children's confidence with words and builds the social skills of the children.
Reading Visitors
Over the years we have been very lucky to have a number of visitors come into school and read with the children.
World book day provides a great opportunity for visitors to come in and share a story.
The Oak Academy website provide free online lessons with videos, quizzes, and more for a variety of subjects.
