Cinnamon Brow CE Primary School
Prime Minister
This role is leader of parliament. They ensure that parliament is working effectively and bring everything and everyone together.
This year, our Prime Minister is Sophie.
Leader of the Opposition
This role is to consider and reflect upon what is brought to parliament and challenge as appropriate. This is to ensure that the decisions that are made always are in the best interests of our pupils.
Both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition will meet with chair of governors and headteacher / leadership team during the year with a focus on the Christian ethos of the school. They will discuss any relevant parts of the school improvement plan.
They will lead on gathering information about the impact of Heartsmart and the behaviour curriculum on pupils' within school through pupil voice. This information will be shared with the head and chair of governors.
Secretary of State for International Development
This role is to promote the outward actions of our parliament. They will consider how we can improve on what we are already doing in support of our work with charities and our service to others across the world. They will meet with the Global Citizens action group and work towards the gaining of the Global Neighbours award.
This year, our Secretary of State for International Development is Amy.
Secretary of State for Education
This role is to focus on pupils’ views of teaching and learning across school. They will lead on gathering pupil voice and provide a voice for the pupils on how we can make teaching and learning even better. They will meet with various subject leads at different points during the year to discuss pupil voice and next steps.
This year, our Secretary of State for Education is Jamie.
Shadow Secretary
Our shadow SofS for International Development and Education is Millie.
Secretary of State for Environment and Food
This role is to focus on the school environment this year. This is with a particular focus on our developing lunchtime provision through OPAL. As part of this role, they will meet with the OPAL play team to discuss pupil voice and next steps.

Secretary of State for Health and Wellbeing
This role is to focus on the health and wellbeing of pupils and what we can do as a school to encourage and improve this. This can be through healthy eating and increased physical activity. As part of this role, they will meet with the Anti-bullying ambassadors and Welfare Manager to discuss pupil voice and next steps.
This year, our Secretary of State for Health and Wellbeing is Scarlett.

Secretary of State for Digital Culture and Media
This role is to focus on our engagement with technology within school and how this can be improved. They will meet with the computing lead and the PCSO with a focus on internet safety.
This year, our Secretary of State for Digital Culture and Media is Holly.
Secretary of State for Transport
This role is to focus on helping the school to encourage pupils to walk to school wherever possible. They will meet with the PCSO to look at how we can ensure parking is as safe as possible before and after school.
This year, our Secretary of Stage for Transport is Jack.

This role supports parliament by recording evidence of meetings.
This year, our Secretary of parliament is Erin.
Democracy is well established within Cinnamon Brow CE School. Pupils have the opportunity to have their voice heard through our School Parliament which involves all of our children from Year 1 to Year 6.
Within parliament, pupils are able to discuss and make decisions that have direct impact on school life. There are eight main members of our school parliament as detailed below. They are elected from Y6, following a hustings event, to represent the pupil voice in school and they form the Parliamentary Cabinet. Each class elects two representatives who speak at the Parliament Meetings on behalf of their class. They will support the different roles within the cabinet.
During the election process, children learn about democracy. They learn about the UK Parliamentary system. When the children learn about the Greeks, as part of the curriculum, they learn about the history of our democratic nations and other systems that can be used as alternatives to democracy.
The School Parliament system empowers our children to put democracy into practice. It is a powerful way for our children to further develop their ability to debate and learn to disagree well.
The main roles are based on our UK Government system. They have been chosen carefully and cover key areas that may be part of discussions within our school parliament:
